This article talks about driveway alarms and some of the options you have when choosing one.

There are different ways you can keep your family and home safe.  You can have various alarms in the house that can go off when an intruder enters.  You can have similar alarms that go off when a window opens as well.  However there is another type of alarm that is very effective as well and that is a driveway alarm.

The first question one might ask themselves is, what is a driveway alarm?  A driveway alarm alerts you whenever someone wanders onto your driveway.  Once the alarm is turned on, various lights and sirens go off.  Driveway alarms are somewhat inexpensive and are easy to install and are a perfect way to protect your home. When deciding what kind of driveway alarm you want, you have to choose between either a wired or not wired alarm.

Wired driveway alarms work just how the name states they work, sensors are connected by wire from the sensing unit to the monitoring unit.  Wired alarms are good because there is less interference, which means it’s less likely to malfunction.  However, wired alarms are only good if you are currently building a house because it can get complimented trying to wire an alarm in a pre-existing house.

Wireless driveway alarms are probably the most practical and easiest to install.  However when choosing an alarm, it is essential that you choose one with a sensor that has a long range.  This is good because then you can set the sensor as far away as you like while still being able to pick up potential intruders.   Some sensors can reach as far as a few miles away.  However, be warned that when choosing a wireless alarm, the distance is often marked as a maximum distance as wont always work from that range.

Once you have chosen the type of alarm, the next step is to choose what kind of monitor.  There are monitors that can alert cars, people, animals and other objects.  However, depending on the type of monitor you get, the alarm can be set off by things that don’t need to be alerted about.  Metal detecting sensors are great because they can alert when cars pass by and wont alert when things like animals enter your driveway.

This is a very basic introduction on driveway alarms and what they do.  However, if you are looking for one of the best ways to protect your family, having one of these driveway alarms is a good bet.  They are inexpensive and work very well.
