Taking care of a child is one of the greatest things in the entire world.  However taking care of a child is also one of the hardest things to do as well and takes a lot of time and effort.  Sometimes parents need to do certain things that children can’t accompany them to like work or other engagements and often times parents leave their child under the care of a nanny. 

Keeping your children safe is incredibly important and putting a child under the care of someone else can be incredibly hard to do.  Finding that right person is critical, however, parents might want to check up on the nanny to see how they are treating their children.  Different surveillance systems have been developed specifically for this where parents can monitor how their child is being treated when they are under the care of someone else.

Nanny cams typically come pre-installed in plush toys or any other common object found around the house and in a child’s room.  This could include a teddy bear, a clock, a flowerpot and even a box of tissues. 

It’s very common that these cameras come quipped with wireless transmitters that transmit the pictures and video to a recording device located in another room.  Some advanced systems can even transmit these images to a computer or a server so the parent can look at what is going on from work or anywhere else they have Internet access to.

There are some disadvantages to having a nanny camera however, especially ones that transmit the information wirelessly.  Outside people can potentially tap into the recording feed and could potentially be able to see what the cameras are recording, thus compromising the security of the entire house.

It’s not illegal to install and use nanny camera, however this is a very controversial issue.  Different states have different restrictions when using these cameras such as limited just to video and not voice recording and other things.  And there is also the question of if you should tell the nanny that you have these cameras or not.   Regardless of the disadvantages, safety is the most important thing a parent has to think about when leaving the child under someone else’s care.   Doing research into the person or the company you have hired to take care of the child should be the first think you do, and then if you are still worried and want that extra protection, installing a nanny camera is one of the best things you can do.
