A driveway alarm system is a great way to prevent burglaries and home intrusions. If you follow this article you should be able to choose the alarm that is right for you so that you can begin protecting your family.

If you are looking to help prevent security breaches and ensure that your family and employees are safe, you need to consider installing a wireless driveway alarm system. A wireless alarm can help prevent a number of things, most importantly prevent a burglar or home intruder from breaking into your house. This article is going to tell you how to select the alarm that is right for you.

The first thing you need to do is determine the minimum distance your transmission will need. To find this distance you will need to measure from where the sensor is going to be to where the receiver is going to be. Most systems can transmit up to 1,000 ft in open areas and 300 ft through walls. When you figure this distance you should look for anything that will interfere with the signal, such as trees or hills, because these will reduce the transmission distance.

The next step is to decide what you want the driveway alarm to do. Do you want the alarm to only monitor and detect vehicles, or do you want it to detect animals and people also? The sensors go off weight, some of which ignore things under 40 lbs., so you may need to choose a sensor that does not do this.

You also need to figure out how many sensors and receivers you will need. If you have a large house you will probably want to have multiple receivers so you can hear the alarm in multiple rooms and if you have multiple driveways you will probably need multiple sensors.

When you purchase a driveway alarm you should make sure that it works with multiple sensors and receivers so you have the possibility of adding more at a later time. When you go to install the alarm you should mount it about 2 to 3 feet above the ground on a building or in a tree, but do not place it higher than 6 feet from the driveway.

You can purchase an alarm for as cheap as $30, but these are not very good and you should avoid them. For you to get a good, quality system, you should look to be spending at least $150.
