If you have a wireless camera, you have far more options than cameras with wires. Try not to place wireless cameras anywhere where walls will be between the camera and receiver. This can potentially block the signal and make it difficult to accurately record anything.
Obviously, you want to place cameras in the highest traffic areas your home receives. You will want to place cameras in by your front door and back door before you place cameras on the side of your home. This is because these are the areas that people come in and out of the most.
Lastly, place cameras by any rooms or areas you have the most valuables in. If you have a room with high valuable items in it, you probably want to protect that room over a room with just a bed in it. This way if intruders try to enter through the window, you will have caught them on tape.
